I ran a cleaning business in Alabama for 17 years and I worked for a dear sweet couple, The Mitchells twice a week. Starting in November we would bake up over 100 of these luscious cakes for the staff at a nearby hospital. (her hubby was a doctor) She gave me one for my family the first year I worked for her and we all loved it! I do not like fruitcake, per say, but these cakes are so much better than regular fruitcake! It is actually a shame to call them fruitcake!
Now not a year goes by that I don't bake these cakes and send them to friends!
Mmmm..... Delicious!
ReplyDeleteThey sure do look yummy. I plan today to cook my first ever fruitcake ready for our daughter to decorate.
ReplyDeleteThey look like the fruitcake which are so much better than fruitcakes a friend once made but never got the recipe for - will you share yours?

They look delicious. My mouth is watering.
ReplyDeleteMy family thinks I'm nuts 'cause I love fruitcake. I bought myself one a few years ago, and it lasted me until almost Easter! Fruitcakes are Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fruitcake photos. They look wonderful and I love fruitcake! Your cakes look like they are made with a lot of fruit and just a little goo to hold them together and that's my kind. Wish I was having a slice and enjoying a cup of tea to go with them. Chanlady
ReplyDeleteHey T -- how about sharing the recipe for those of us that do Christmas baking in January? ;) Actually, I'm not quite that disorganized -- my bro is having a family get togeher the 2nd weekend in January 'cause everybody at his house is down sick and we can't get together for Christmas. (This also gives me extra time to finish his quilt that still needs a binding, lol!)
