FWQA!!

Several months ago I purchased the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book and had intended to do a quilt along on my blog but I fell ill and was not able to get it started.  So my book has sat dormant for all of this time (along with the fabrics).  I happened upon Angela's blog a couple of weeks ago while blog surfing and saw that she and Amanda were hosting this very quilt along!  So, I decided to hop on the band wagon with them!
Over the course of the past few months I have decided that I do not care for the fabrics I first intended to use and now I am so glad that I wasn't able to get started!  I have looked at the current blocks on the Flickr group where those who are already working on this have posted their photos, and I see some really cool fabric/color combinations!  They are already in Week #4!! so I have some catching up to do but I will get there!

Yes, I know, I am going to be one of a few odd balls but I have never been a "sampler" type quilter.  "Sampler" as in saying I do not use scraps to make quilts because I like to buy fabrics for each quilt and choose them so they go together well.  (I do gift my scraps though so they are not thrown out)

What do you think about the fabrics I have chosen to use for the quilt along?  I am excited about my fabric/color combination because I really love 3 color quilts!  And what's not to love about a red/black/white quilt! I am going to use the black and white check for pops of color...
I am off to my sewing room to play! I hope to at least get weeks 1 and 2 caught up today!

How about you?  Would you care to join in?  Just get your fabrics ready, purchase the book, and off we go!!!

I was just in Alabama for a visit and went into a local gift shop and look what I found!! My plan is to use a recipe out of one of these cookbooks on the days I work on my blocks!  I will share a photo of each dish and tell you how yummy it is?  May just make you want to go purchase your own cookbooks!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better and have more desire to start the quilt-along. I had thought to start too. But, I just wish that the blocks were larger. Now, I'm thinking that maybe i should try...and just enlarge the blocks...? I dunno

I have the farmers wife book also but have to many projects on the go right now and need to finish something before I am allowing myself to start something new!

Love your color combinations - love red, black and white.

I have this book also and read about the quilt along. I love the colors you selected red and black are so pretty. If I ever get around to making even a miniature sampler I will do it in 1930's fabrics.
