I am so very excited to introduce you all to several fantastic crazy quilters!
Crazy quilting became popular during the late 1800's. In order to make a crazy quilt, quilters gather several pieces of silks, satins, velvets or any fabric they choose to use and sew pieces of these fabrics onto a muslin foundation. Then they set to work embroidering each seam and adding embellishments along with their thread work. To finish they will set to work adding larger embellishments in the patch areas in between the seam lines. In the end they will have created a magical masterpiece that will be a family heirloom to hand down from generation to generation.
In the quilt shows of today traditional and art quilts are given much glory but it is hard to get the judges to agree that crazy quilts are quilts too! Just because the crazy quilt may not have batting or may not be quilted does not mean they are not quilts. In reality, the crazy quilts are some of the finest "Art Quilts" in the world!
And that is the main objective of this quilt show! To bring awareness to the fact that Crazy Quilts ARE Quilts Too, and they have their own respectful place in the quilting world alongside all of the traditional, art, and modern quilts!! We want our voice heard, so judges listen up... Make room for our quilts in your quilt shows please!
So, grab a cup of tea and sit down for a spell and visit these crazy quilters on their blogs or websites! Take the time to read about how and why they got started crazy quilting. Scroll through their blogs to see past works and open up their galleries on their websites so you can get a full appreciation for the work that they put in to their crazy quilting and to the talent that they hold! They offer so much inspiration that you will surely feel compelled to re-visit their blogs and websites again and again in the future!
The show will run from February 1 through February 15th!
How do you visit these quilters? -- Each quilter will link up at the bottom of this post via a linky platform and all you need to do is click on your desired button and you will be taken to the website of that crazy quilter. When you have visited any of the crazy quilters, come back and click on a different button and be taken to another crazy quilter's site. Continue doing this until you have visited all of the crazy quilter's! They will love and enjoy a visit from you!
Some of the crazy quilters may not link up on the same day so be sure and come back all during the show to visit any of the crazy quilters you may have missed! They will have from February 1 - February 15 at 11:59 p.m., Pacific time, to link up!
This show is strictly for crazy quilters so I would ask that all other quilters refrain from linking up. Let's give the show floor to these talented Crazy Quilters! Thank you so much for understanding.

Hi Thearica! It was so nice to see more links to explore when I came back today! Are we supposed to be linking more than once though? I'm confused! lol
ReplyDeleteSome people's first link went to a dead page so they had to link up again. I have deleted the bad link so they only have one box now. Everyone who is a crazy quilter only links up one time to their blog or website.
DeleteBut.. If you want to have a chance to win the daily door prize, you comment on this post here on my blog each day...
wow! eye candy galore! excellent idea for a contest, btw!
ReplyDeleteBack to check in again and I've found new links ..... beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteSusieW
swolfe44 at verizon dot net
I'm back though sidetracked into viewing the competition picture show for a while. Thanks for the opportunity to visit so many cool crazy quilters.... and the chance to win some items for my mother to start the crazy quilt she has wanted to make for so long
ReplyDeleteI still have not decided who to vote for. I'm confused on whether just the competitors are supposed to link up or can just any old crazy quilter link up too? If anybody can then is there a requirement on the blog post we link to? - Cathy L
ReplyDeleteCathy.. Everyone who is a crazy quilter is welcome to link up even if they did not send in a piece for the competition.
DeleteCreate a post on your blog telling a little bit about yourself and upload some photos of your work... Or link to an old post on your blog...
SO much fun vsiting everyone's blogs. I should have mine up this weekend. Cathy L - even though it is too late to enter a piece into the contest you are allowed to Link up - write an Intro about your self as a CQers and link that thread.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your little box come up...
Deleteand Cathy L's too! :)
Tried to link and think it went through, but it didn't show up. Thanks for bringing CQ to the forefront. (-;
ReplyDeleteConnie.. You are up there with the others. Look back at the boxes. :)
DeleteThearica, now I can see Diane and Leslie`s site! Love the show, what an awesome source for CQing. Lots of ideas going though my head!
ReplyDeleteLOTS of inspiration for sure!!
DeleteEnjoying all the eye candy and seeing more people linking up.
ReplyDeleteLinda in NM
Lots to see on the linked up blogs. We're widening our CQ circle for sure, I'm getting lots of visitors from here, and that's really nice.
ReplyDeleteDiane
Diane.. That is one of the main objectives. :)
DeleteI'm just in awe of all the eye-candy (workmanship).
ReplyDeleteLeann... Random.org pulled #1 as the first winning number but you have no profile so I have no way of contacting you so you void your prize. Please include your email in your comments if you arent going to set up a profile with an email there. Sorry.
DeleteThis is so much fun. Thanks for making pages for those of us who don't have blogs. We can see so much more gorgeous stitching that way.
ReplyDeleteYou all are most welcome!
DeleteYou do need to come back everyday becauses there are more things to look at. I am loving this!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see Flora had joined the links this morning - what a wonderful display of her work was in her post! I love her witchypoo hats and her wip - the fairy tale quilt - will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou have piqued my interest! headed over there now!
DeleteOOO! I won on the 2nd.Do I need to send by mailing address or did we send that when we registere? Thank you and I plan to keep on entering. Maybe I'll be lucky again.
ReplyDeleteBobbi.. I sent you an email this morning.
DeleteCongratulations Bobbi!
ReplyDeleteThis is so much fun to see more CQ's added every day.
ReplyDeleteBonnie H. brharg@yahoo.com
I'm back to look. Maybe this weekend I will get up a linky post of my own up even tho' I'm not in the competition!
ReplyDeleteI hope next year will see you IN the competition! :)
DeleteI think I am going to change one rule and that will be the piece will have to be brand new and never shown before. So get started everyone! :)
This is wonderful to see everyones work in one place! Veryyyyy special!
ReplyDeleteI completed one pass of the competition quilts and narrowed it down to 5 - extremely difficult to do this. So, will visit again and work on my vote. Visited 2 of the cqs- wow the linkies are building! Thanks Thearica. alternate email mlwright29(at)hotmail(dottie)com
ReplyDeleteWOW 92 comments on the 3rd day. Lots of beautiful stitching...

ReplyDeleteShe would love to see you in her shop I am sure! It is always great to give back to our sponsors through orders. :)
DeleteI am enjoying everyone's blogs!
ReplyDeleteEvery day I come and visit new blogs first and then go back over some of the older ones. I learn something new each time. Love it!
ReplyDeleteMost of these ladies have been blogging for a good long while. You should have enough blog reading to last you a good year when this show is over if you travel back in their blogs to see all of their work. :)
DeleteThis is so much fun, looking at all the eye candy. Yum!
ReplyDeleteGreat new links since the last time I was here. Fun to visit each day ....

DeleteI see we have added a few more links!! Wow!!! I won a door prize. This is a first for me, I have signed in for so many and about to give up. Never say Never!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the new links when I come to the blog! And I had forgotten to link up myself! :)
DeleteThank you for having this contest. It has brought sooooo much traffic to my new blog. THANK YOU :) And not to mention awareness to crazy quilts.
ReplyDeleteAn immense thank you for advancing the CQ which has so evil to be recognized in the world of the patchwork; in France it is the same battle!
ReplyDeleteThank you also for these links of quilteuses crazy, they have many talents!
Beautiful day
Thearica this is such a wonderful thing you have done for the crazy quilt world....Maybe because of something like this we will be recognized and hold a position in the public's eye. Thank you...now off to look at the contenders again..
ReplyDeleteGood to see you linked yourself up at last, Thearica! This is such a treat, seeing new links each day to check out from old friends and new blogs too! Loving it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful job you have done. Thank you for sharing everyone's work with us. I guess I need to learn to do my own blog. Heaven forbid that I spend more time on the computer instead of productively quilting or cleaning house, etc. vbg
ReplyDeleteThis whole idea is fabulous! I forgot to leave a comment on here yesterday when I linked to your party! The prizes being offered are amazing! It is so fun visiting the linked CQ sites and looking at the entries for your contest. Thank you for coming up with such a great plan.
ReplyDeleteSo excited to have won one of the door prizes. I have already visited Vikki's website and picked out my colours...and drooled all over my keyboard. Now I'm off to do some more looking
ReplyDeleteThis is a lot of fun Theresa -- thanks for organizing it.
ReplyDeleteThis gets better and better. So Wonderful to see all this talent.
ReplyDeleteFeb. 5, 2012, Bonnie H. brharg@yahoo.com
Thank you for this interesting event.
ReplyDeleteGradually I'm narrowing down projects for my vote - very difficult as so many wonderful submissions. Yesterday was not able to post a comment as the blog would not display the box. Today having difficulty too. Hope this posts.
I'm so glad more people keep linking their websites. It gives a little more pleasure each day.
ReplyDeleteI finally linked up my website and I think I've been to all the others. Now I just need to cast my vote!
ReplyDeleteI am really thrilled beyond words at the outpouring of support shown by all! Thank you so much!

Its so hard to choose a favorite CQ. I will have to do a lot more studying on these lovely projects.

ReplyDeleteSo much talent here!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner! Thanks for having the show.
ReplyDeleteVisited 4 more blogs today. Wow! such intricate work and time spent gathering embellishments of all types. Perhaps someone can recommend one best book for a traditional quilter to use to learn crazy quilting. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI loved looking at Carol's work today. I wish I could see close-ups!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work by all. IT will take a lot of time to choose my vote getter.
ReplyDeleteJoyce.. You would have won the scissors but you are a "no-reply" blogger. You need to include your email address in your profile since you do not have a blog. When a person has no way of contact, they cannot win prizes because there is no way to contact them.
DeleteBetter late than never...added my linky! Enjoying all of the beautiful eye candy!
ReplyDeleteKathy
I suppose having my dog get me up at 4am has one advantage - I get so look at more cq work sooner.
