Today is my day for showing my Dots On Dots creation!

I want to thank Madame Samm of Sew We Quilt and Corrie of Quilt Taffy for all of their endless hours of work to pull off this blog hop!
If you are looking for a place to have a good time with other quilters, you need to look no farther than Madame Samm
She and her cheerleaders keep us all hopping merrily along!

I am not alone today!  Here are the other quilters who are up with their DOTS!
September 14th

and this LINK will take you to the master list of all hoppers!

OK... Now to see what I have to show you all...

I purchased the fabrics from my favorite online quilt shop, The Fat Quarter Shop!  But once my fabrics came, I had no idea what I wanted to do with them!  ugghh!!  So, one day my friend Marie came over for a sew in and I showed her the fabrics and told her about the hop.  We got out several of my books and went through them until I found something I wanted to do!

BUT..... (there always has to be a but in there doesn't it)

The piece I wanted to do did not involve 12 1/2" blocks.... grief! and I wanted to do this so bad!!!
SO! I improvised...

These are the 12 1/2" blocks I made for the hop!

YES, they are 12 1/2" in size and there are 4 of them...
YES, they are dull and boring but just wait till you see what I do with them...

I rotated them to get the orange with large white dots fabric to the center and sewed them all 4 together and added a fun border strip...

YES, it is still boring, right??

Well... ok then..... NEXT....

Is what I am using it for...

How about a backing for this quilt top!

You can see all of the fabrics in the 9 patch blocks have been used in the creation of this cute little quilt top.  I saw this in a magazine but the pattern pieces were supposed to be enlarged 250% but I left it at the size in the magazine and made a small wallhanging.  It doesn't look as good as the one I fashioned it from but I think it is sweet.  I used lite Steam A Seam to apply the squares on point in the inner border so less piecing!

Here is a close up of the Rooster and Hens and baby chicks...

It isn't quilted yet but I will get to it soon!

Hold On.... I"m not finished yet......

While Marie was over for our sew in I handed her a stack of dotted fabrics different from mine and challenged her to create something for the hop to show with my entry.
That is what friends are for, right?? ha!

Well she came up with this block!  Isn't it gorgeous!

AND.....

Being the over-achiever that she is... She actually got hers finished!!!
Puts me to shame.. :)

 Her backing..

There you have it... 2 friends... 2 entries!
What a team we make!

Thanks for stopping by to see what we created for the hop!
Please take the time to visit everyone who is taking part... They will be glad to see you!

Your four blocks certainly put a "complete" touch to your quilt. Clever to rearrange them. I like that you used not only dots but stripes also. The colors wouldn't have been my choice, but you made such a total look that I like it very much. Cute chickens on the front. Wow!
