First, I would like to say thank you once again to everyone who took part in this show in one way or another! Whether you were a contestant, or just linked up to the show, sponsored prizes, or only voted... YOU ALL made the show a success!

I want to say a big hearty THANK YOU once again to our prize sponsors!! You have to admit, that the prizes they have given are over the top fantastic!  If you have not sent them an email telling them how much you appreciate their generosity, please do so.  I know it would make them smile to see the comments come in to their inbox.... and possibly a few orders. :)

I was amazed by the outward show of support by the number of people who voted in this contest!! We certainly had tons more people voting than commenting!  I had 376 votes come in to my inbox!!! I did have a very few duplicates but this was the number of actual legitimate votes after the duplicates were deleted!

Welcome To The Show! Crazy Quilts Are Quilts Too!! - Feb 14 & 15th Door Prize Winners Announced

I am so very excited to introduce you all to several fantastic crazy quilters!

Crazy quilting became popular during the late 1800's. In order to make a crazy quilt, quilters gather several pieces of silks, satins, velvets or any fabric they choose to use and sew pieces of these fabrics onto a muslin foundation. Then they set to work embroidering each seam and adding embellishments along with their thread work.  To finish they will set to work adding larger embellishments in the patch areas in between the seam lines. In the end they will have created a magical masterpiece that will be a family heirloom to hand down from generation to generation.

In the quilt shows of today traditional and art quilts are given much glory but it is hard to get the judges to agree that crazy quilts are quilts too!  Just because the crazy quilt may not have batting or may not be quilted does not mean they are not quilts. In reality, the crazy quilts are some of the finest "Art Quilts" in the world!

And that is the main objective of this quilt show!  To bring awareness to the fact that Crazy Quilts ARE Quilts Too, and they have their own respectful place in the quilting world alongside all of the traditional, art, and modern quilts!! We want our voice heard, so judges listen up... Make room for our quilts in your quilt shows please!

So, grab a cup of tea and sit down for a spell and visit these crazy quilters on their blogs or websites!  Take the time to read about how and why they got started crazy quilting.   Scroll through their blogs to see past works and open up their galleries on their websites so you can get a full appreciation for the work that they put in to their crazy quilting and to the talent that they hold!  They offer so much inspiration that you will surely feel compelled to re-visit their blogs and websites again and again in the future!

The show will run from February 1 through February 15th!

How do you visit these quilters? -- Each quilter will link up at the bottom of this post via a linky platform and all you need to do is click on your desired button and you will be taken to the website of that crazy quilter.  When you have visited any of the crazy quilters, come back and click on a different button and be taken to another crazy quilter's site.  Continue doing this until you have visited all of the crazy  quilter's!  They will love and enjoy a visit from you!

Some of the crazy quilters may not link up on the same day so be sure and come back all during the show to visit any of the crazy  quilters you may have missed!  They will have from February 1 - February 15 at 11:59 p.m., Pacific time, to link up!

This show is strictly for crazy quilters so I would ask that all  other quilters refrain from linking up.  Let's give the show floor to these talented Crazy Quilters!  Thank you so much for understanding.

We do have something for everyone who comes through this show for the next 2 weeks though... DOOR PRIZES each and every day!!  For men and women both...everyone who leaves a comment on this thread for each day of the show, will be entered to win the prizes!

You will visit this link -  COMPETITION ALBUM - and then, using this email link,  send me an -  EMAIL - with your choice of favorite quilt!  Please include the quilt entry number in the email.  One vote per person!

All of the competition creations are in the album and it is closed to new submissions.  So take your time and view the quilts over and over before you make your decision!  There will not be any additions to the competition album so you need not worry if you will miss any of the competition pieces.

You have until February 22 to send your vote in to me via EMAIL!

Success!

The Crazy Quilts Are Quilts Too Show was a huge success!!

And all thanks goes to the crazy quilters who linked up and those who competed in the competition!  Also, all of the readers who came through during the 2 weeks span of the show, it would not have been a show without you either!  And don't forget our generous prize sponsors!!  The comment section does not remotely give an idea of the readership that came through!  I received tons of personal emails about the show and you would not believe the number of votes that have come in so far!!  And there is one more week of voting left!!

This is my second online show to host and I am learning as I go!  I am having a lot of fun getting the shows together and am looking forward to the next one!

I want to go ahead and put the word out right here on this post for the 

2013 Crazy Quilts Are Quilts Too Show!!
February 1 - 15, 2013

There is going to be one major rule change and I want to go ahead and put it out there now!  If you enter the competition, the piece you enter has to be BRAND NEW, never seen before by anyone.. (including children, spouses..etc..) and never uploaded in an online venue of ANY kind nor published in a magazine!  Brand new means spanking brand new!

You all have a solid year to get busy and create something special for next years show!!

I can guarantee you that the prizes will be as great as they are this year or even better!! So get busy!!

I want to give another shout out to all of our wonderful prize sponsors!!  They have made generous contributions to the prize pool and I hope all of you that entered the competition will send them an email and let them know how much you appreciate their generosity!
