I figure most everyone is settling down for a relaxing weekend come Saturday morning so I hope that you will take the time to create a blog post talking about things you have accomplished for the past week in your sewing rooms, share one of your needlework projects, or share your pets.. a good read you think we all might like.. Let us take a sneek peek in to your kitchen and see what is on the stove for the weekend..
My offerings to you this weekend are 3 cross stitch pieces that my friend Martha has done for me and my hubby. She does exquisite work and we are always thrilled when she accepts one of the pieces we ask her to do for us. My eyes will not take the cross stitching any longer so I am doubly grateful to my friend for giving us what we otherwise would not have.
This was the first piece Martha stitched for us. It is called "The Kiss".
When we built our home in 2004 my hubby wanted to use a lot of his Don Troiani Civil War prints on our walls as decor. I quickly headed him off at the pass with that one. I told him that there certainly wasn't going to be a war going on in our master bedroom. So I chose a love theme and quickly began looking for prints to hang on our walls. I could not find anything that wow'ed me except cross stitch pieces. I sent Martha off an email when I found "The Kiss" and asked her if she would be interested in doing it for us. She said that if I would give her the time she needed, she would do it. It was hard waiting those few months but I knew we would have such a blessing in the end, and that it would fly by faster than I thought anyway. And when it arrived, I was more than happy... Isn't it beautiful!
I am not usually known as a patient person but when it comes to things I want in our home, I do not just buy something to fill in an empty spot. Most of our windows do not have any curtains or drapes on them, by choice.. I love light, but the ones that do went naked for about 3 years until I found exactly what I was looking for. And so just the same, I took my time and searched for just the right piece to accompany "The Kiss".
And I finally found it... another cross stitch kit. This piece is called "Seduction".
I sent Martha off an email and within a few days the kit was on its way to her house! I waited patiently as Martha worked her magic and then one day our mail carrier delivered it home to us! Such a delight to unveil our new piece! It quickly went to the frame shop and found it's new home in our master suite too!
The third piece that Martha stitched for us is called "Model Of Virtue".
As you can see it is still waiting to be framed but I will be taking care of that this month so it can hang in our master suite with the other 2 pieces. All of these pieces are subtle earth tone shades. Perfect for the setting that I am trying to portray in our personal area of the home. Everyone who comes to our home and asks for a tour of our rooms, are always amazed at Martha's work! I hope you are too!
So, do you have something you would like to share? We would all love to see what you have been working on, reading, cooking up in your kitchen, or show us your beloved pets! We just would love for you to share!
