Come and share today! Still time to link up!
On this cold snowy morning in North Carolina, it is time for the third weekend "It's A Saturday Sharing Day" where we will share it all!
I figure most everyone is settling down for a relaxing weekend come Saturday morning so I hope that you will take the time to create a blog post talking about things you have accomplished for the past week in your sewing rooms, share one of your needlework projects, or share your pets.. a good read you think we all might like.. Let us take a sneek peek in to your kitchen and see what is on the stove for the weekend..
Today I would like to share with you a new storage system for my thread that I found at Bed Bath and Beyond a week or so ago. I have been carrying around a ball of the Pearl Cotton thread that I sell on my website so I could find an easier way to store the balls that I use at my stitching station so the ends did not get entangled with each other. This is how I was currently storing it... look familiar??
Hubby and I took off to Raleigh a week or so ago so I grabbed my coupons and made it a point to go by Bed Bath and Beyond. I actually had it in my mind to hopefully find those old timey spice racks... the white plastic ones we all used to use in the 70's. They were only about as deep as a bottle of spice and had 3 or 4 shelves to hold spices. I thought the balls would fit perfectly on the shelves but I found something far more superior. What I found actually keeps the thread away from dust! There is a small hole in the cup and then tiny holes in the lid, perfectly sized for this thread, that when you line them both up with each other, the thread comes right out to you. I will never have to remove the cup from the backboard or even take the lid off to cut a length to use. Just pull my desired length out and whack and I am ready to thread my needle! Just take a look!
I was so over the moon excited with my find! I only purchased 2 that day just to be sure they would work on my doors and now I need to go buy 4 more! There will be 3 on each door! Now my stitching closet is a lot more user friendly!
And for those of you who have been guessing as to what I was going to use these spice racks for at this post on the blog.... I have chosen a winner from the replies... Charlene S. of Geema's Wonderings said..
Thread - the holes are perfect. You can take off what you need w/o tangling.
Charlene will be able to go over to my shop and choose 3 colors of this thread and I will ship it to her. Thank you all for taking part in the suggestions! There were tons of inspiring suggestions for using this spice rack set!
So, do you have something you would like to share? We would all love to see what you have been working on, reading, cooking up in your kitchen, or show us your beloved pets! We just would love for you to share!

For those who may miss linking up this weekend... watch for next Saturday morning when the 4th linky party for Saturday Sharing Day goes live on the blog! Thank you to everyone who is participating this weekend!

I don't have a picture to share, because this is just an idea that I had yesterday, but I had to share the idea anyhow. I have been saving charms to make an I spy quilt for my future grand children. I have a ways to go on that, but when I cut a cute charm I tend to have extra fabric that is cute and kid like left over..and I had picked up a 99cent pattern of a teddy bear at a sale. I thought how cute would it be to save the fabric and make a crazy quilt bear with the left over fabric!! One to go with the quilt!! I won't be able to add the wonderful beads and such so that the kids can be safe and not eat them but I can add the beautiful stitching with threads such as those you have it the post today.
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect idea! When you embellish every seam with embroidery, it really makes a crazy quilt come to life... and you could also add french knots in place of beads to keep it safe for the children but add that extra element to your stitching.
Deletelove your idea! that will be a wonderful gift
DeleteWhat a wonderful treat this morning! Thank you for hosting this Link-Up Party. I'll pop back in later today to see who else has linked up.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to participating each week and watching this party grow!
Thank you for sharing :)

So glad to have you Lani. If you will, each week, add a sentence to your blog post telling about the linky party in lieu of just leaving a link in a list of links at the bottom of your post. That way it has a better chance of being seen and your friends can come play along too. :)
DeleteAwesome idea!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those make awesome storage.
ReplyDeletevery nifty! love the idea that they are seperated in their own compartments and they will stay clean-
ReplyDeleteThat's what got me so excited! and then to boot, it is magnetic so they stay where they are... I dont have to manhandle the cups when I want thread... Just tug on my thread and snip with scissors. Easy peasy.
DeleteNow how cool is that? Very!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I am envious that you have a huge closet! Good to know that not only Michigan is snowy today!
ReplyDeleteWhen we built our house in 2004 we had the contractor build that closet for me. It never grew up to be a clothes closet. lol
DeleteGreat idea! Love it. Your space is so neat!
ReplyDeleteI love my stitching closet. I can fold up the table when we have company and it stands right inside the closet and I can shut the doors and keep it all hid. :)
DeleteHi!!! I had seen the pictures and I had no idea what that was....A spice rack!!!! Love the way you are using them!!!! They are very cute!!!! I would use them as wall art!!! But I love your stitching closet!!!! Thanks for the fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYou should come and sew with me sometime!
